The Music of William Winter

Published by William Jenman on

Archie Churchill-Moss, one of England’s top melodeon players, visits the Carew Arms to play a selection of the music preserved by Quantock shoemaker- and village fiddle player- William Winter. Winter’s notebooks of handwritten folk tunes, dated 1848 and 1850, are a fascinating window into the past; the original manuscripts are stored in Halsway Manor’s archive. This event is organised by Halsway Manor, as part of our Stories of the Hills Project.
