Lore & Draw: Coleridge ‘Uncovered’ 21st October

Published by Jon Barrett on

Lore and Draw returns! A very special anniversary edition of this laugh-along ‘life-drawing’ class, celebrating 250 years to day since the birth of poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, in the place he lived!

Drink along and raise a glass during this art class at The Ancient Mariner pub, opposite Coleridge Cottage, for an evening of drawing, with elements of dark comedy and the supernatural.

Watch along as we portray (with some poetic licence) characters from the Quantocks and Coleridge’s poetical canon. Taking a sideways look at the life and times of Samuel Taylor Coleridge on the 250th anniversary since his birth, his impact on literature, the Quantocks, and pioneering supernatural storytelling.

It will be a howler of a Halloween holiday period with this light-hearted evening in the pub. Book your place to ensure a seat at the table for this unmissable event. We’re asking for donations, but book your place for this busy evening. Pay what you like!

Full details will be sent once booked, nearer the event. Any questions, contact jonathan.barrett@somerset.gov.uk

All materials supplied, but you’re welcome to bring any of your own materials. We will spend the first half of the evening’s workshop showing you how to make paint the stone age way, using minerals from the hills and coast surrounding Nether Stowey and the Quantocks. You’ll craft your own paintbrush and pens, then the second half of the evening will be our life drawing class, of sorts.

“Brilliant fun!”
